Irene Duckett, founding principal of Ireneinc Planning in 2003, began the practice as an avenue to become more practically involved in planning decision-making processes. She has played a key role in developing the practice’s reputation for quality, integrity and reliability.
Since then Irene has worked on a broad mix of projects at a range of scales, primarily engaging with developers but also with Councils and government departments on residential, commercial, tourism, infrastructure and aged care projects. She has a sound and practical knowledge of land capability and feasible land use and development options. A number of projects undertaken by Ireneinc also include comprehensive stakeholder analysis and community consultation.
Previously as the Senior Statutory Planner of Hobart City Council, she was responsible for the recognition and management of land use conflicts and changing land use patterns, and managing the needs of stakeholders in areas such as Sullivans Cove and Battery Point.
With over 20 years of planning experience, Irene has an extensive experience in undertaking planning appeals and planning scheme amendments. Additionally, Irene has undertaken specific training in mediation, community consultation, and project management.
Currently a National Board Member of the Planning Institute of Australia and member of the State Executive, Irene is an active member for the Planning Institute of Australia. Further to this, Irene provides her services to assist with Planning Aid, Forum for Urban Design Excellence and the Planning Institute’s National Education Committee.
